Think your pet needs to be seen for an emergency veterinary visit? Click HERE to read more about what the American Veterinary Medical Association recommends to be seen in emergency situations.

The Rapids Veterinary Hospital provides day emergency services to our current, active clients during regular business hours.  To be considered as an active client we need to have seen your pet for a physical exam within the last 18 months.

For out of hours emergencies, we have teamed up with a Canadian veterinarian-led company named Smart.Vet.

Smart.Vet allows you access to Registered Veterinary Technicians over the phone when our hospital is closed.  These RVTs can speak with you to triage your pet and then facilitate scheduling an appointment with one of their licensed Ontario-based veterinarians. If your pet requires critical in-person intervention, the RVT will be able to assist you by making arrangement for your pet to be transferred to the nearest available emergency hospital.

The phone number you will use to access our RVT line is 1-647-695-5411. There is no cost for this call or any assistance provided by the RVTs but if you are booked with a virtual veterinarian, there will be a cost of $105 plus HST for the consultation and possible additional costs if medications are prescribed.

If you would prefer to directly book an out of hours appointment with a virtual veterinarian, please click on the following link to be directed to Smart.Vet to set up an account and request and AFTER-HOURS EMERGENCY appointment..

Register with Smart.Vet here and then start your virtual appointment!
